Registration Agreement
International Skeptics Forum Terms and Conditions
By using the International Skeptics Forum (hereinafter “the Forum”) provided by the owners and operators (hereinafter “ISF”), you agree to the following terms and conditions (hereinafter “these Terms"). All posts are the opinions of their authors and are not the views or opinions of ISF. You agree that: Your use of the Forum is entirely at your own risk; You are responsible for the content of the messages you post and any consequences that flow from such posting(s); ISF will not be liable for any errors or omissions in any postings or for any loss or damages incurred as a result of the use of any information contained on the Forum; ISF makes no guarantee or gives warranty of any kind whatsoever (whether express or implied) in relation to your use of the Forum or any use by any third parties; and ISF shall not be liable for any loss or damage (whether direct, indirect, consequential, financial or otherwise) arising from the use of (or in connection with) the Forum. ISF does not guarantee that your use of the Forum will be uninterrupted, error-free, free from any third party interference, or that the Forum will be free from computer viruses or other malicious software. It is your responsibility to implement sufficient procedures and virus checks (including anti-virus and other security checks) to satisfy your particular requirements for the accuracy of data input and output. For your own safety, you should not disclose personal information such as your email address, home address or telephone number (or other information that would identify you indirectly) on any message board. Forum Membership You can read the Forum without registering an account, but in order to post on the Forum and to access the “members only” sections of the Forum and to use some of the functionalities of the Forum, you will need to be logged in and so will require a user name and password. You can register for an account here, and in doing so you will be required to agree to the terms of the Membership Agreement and will be bound by the Forum Rules and guidelines. Copyright By posting, uploading, or sharing your content on the Forum, you grant ISF a perpetual, non-exclusive, sub-licensable, royalty-free, transferable, worldwide license to access, use, and display your content, which includes without limitation the right for ISF or any third party it designates, to publish, copy, excerpt, transmit, use, host, index, cache, distribute, display, create derivative works of, modify and adapt, in any form or media now known or subsequently developed. In addition, the Forum provides features that allow you to share your content with others. There are many things that others may do with that content, including copying it, modifying it, and re-sharing it. So, please consider carefully what you choose to share and with whom; we take no responsibility for that activity. Copyright on content generated prior to ISF hosting of the Forum remains with the member, and such content has been republished on the Forum by the James Randi Educational Foundation pursuant to its license. All ISF content, the selection, compilation, arrangement and presentation of all materials, and the overall design of the Forum are copyrighted by ISF, and are protected by U.S. and international laws. Use of our content without our express prior written permission is strictly prohibited. Privacy When you register for the Forum, you are required to supply a small amount of personal information: an active email address, your first and last name, your state (if in the U.S.) and country of residence. This information is not viewable by other Forum members but may be viewable to by Administrators and/or to by officers of ISF or its agents, and in some instances, may become known to Moderators of the Forum. You also have the option to supply additional information such as a homepage url, your location, your interests, etc.; these are all optional on your part and may be viewable by other Forum members. When your computer connects to the Forum, a record is kept of your IP Address. Cookies The Forum may use cookies to store and sometimes track information while you are visiting the Forum. A cookie is a small amount of data that is sent to your browser from a web server and stored on your computer's hard drive. The Forum uses cookies to store the following information: the last time you logged in, your user name and password, and your preferred viewing options (if you set any). These cookies are used by your browser to enter your user name and password when you return to the Forum. Cookies may also be used from time to time to gather information such as what browser or screen resolution you are using. Any data gathered by such a cookie is anonymous. Forum cookies are not used to track your movement or perform any function other than to enhance your use of the Forum. If your browser does not support cookies or if you do not have cookies enabled in your browser, or if you delete the cookies on your system or prevent them from being saved, the additional features of the Forum software may not work properly. How your information is used The information collected during registration may be used to contact you regarding Forum issues or matters of interest. ISF does not sell or share the information you are required to provide during registration with any other organization, but it may be transferred to a subsequent owner of the Forum. As a general rule, though, the owner of the Forum will not disclose or share any of the personal information provided upon registration unless you have given permission or unless we have a good faith belief that the law requires it. How your information is secured Other than officers of ISF, agents acting on behalf of ISF, or the Administrators and Moderators of the Forum, you are the only person who has access to your personal information. Your information is protected by the security of the Forum software and your password. ISF strongly recommends that you do not share your password with anyone. Unfortunately, it is not possible to guarantee that any data transmitted over the Internet is secure. As a result, while ISF will strive to protect your personal information, it cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit from or via the Forum. General on-line privacy Please remember that whatever personal information you disclose online can be collected and used by others, so it is a good general practice not to post any private or personal information unless you want it to be available publicly, and remember that you can never assume that you are completely anonymous or that you cannot be identified by your online comments. ISF reserves the right to: modify the Forum from time to time, with or without notice, including the right to terminate the Forum and all (or any of) its messages for any reason; determine (in its absolute discretion) if any message or discussion is in violation of these Terms, and edit or remove any content that it considers does so; prohibit and/or ban the posting of messages by any member at any time if they a member should violate these Terms, or for any other reasonable cause (as determined by ISF and/or the Administrators of the Forum, in their absolute discretion). Jurisdiction, Applicable Law, and Severability These Terms are governed by the law of the State of New York, and you and ISF submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New York courts. If any provision of these Terms is deemed to be unlawful, invalid, void, or for any reason unenforceable, then to the extent permitted any such unlawful, invalid, void, or unenforceable provision shall be deemed severed from these Terms and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of the remaining provisions, which shall survive and continue to be binding and enforceable.
