Another School Shooting

The price of freedom according to moderate, sensible conservative, Bill O'Reilly.

Wait: is this a "mass" shooting or not?

I'm not sure how to calibrate my disgust...

ETA But as I'm a "Nogunz Brit" I'm probably excluded from having a view or feeling any level of disgust, not to mention my lack of children...

This is terrible. Imagine how much better it might have been if all the teachers were armed. Or even betterer if a PTA mom had a machine gun.

Proponents of the current interpretation of the second amendment are idiots.

On the bittersweet side, the school was prepared for a shooter from doing drills. I was reading that one student survivor was interviewed after emerging from their locked down room, where the shooter banged on the locked steel door demanding them to "open up"

I'm pleased to see Biden found some humour in a dark situation:

“After decades of inaction, Republicans in Congress must finally say ‘enough is enough’ and work with Democrats to pass common-sense gun safety legislation,” the president added.

More details fleshing out:

Two teachers and two students among the dead. Of the nine injured, only four with gunshot wounds. Not reported yet what the other 5 hospitalizations were caused by.

14yo suspect was a student at the school. Presumably, being 14, he was in his first days in high school.

SRO confronted him, and the boy lay down on the ground. No reported shots fired by the SRO.

And we have a name: Colt Gray. He will be tried as an adult, Georgia authorities already say.

Warning: Inappropriate comment ahead!
With a name like that, he should have been the coolest kid in school!

Seriously. Why didn't they just tell this kid the school was a gun free zone? Are they stupid?

Republicans in Congress are, coincidentally, saying enough is enough on this issue. They are currently working on speeches for the funerals to the effect of "this kind of thing really doesn't happen that often, so you really need to quit your bitching about every little pile of corpses in a school".

Evidently the assailant used a school-shooter special. Or, sorry, "AR-platform type weapon", according to state investigators. They're looking into how he obtained it.

From the "couldn't have seen this coming" department: seems the young Mr Gray and his father were questioned by county sheriffs just last year about the boy making online threats to shoot up a school, complete with pictures of guns. The father acknowledged that he had him a mess o' huntin' guns in the house. The betting window is open for how a 14yo could possibly have gotten his hands on a kill stick.
