Cont: The Trump Presidency Part III

Competence isn't an endeavor. Far be it from me to defend Bob's flights of fancy, but all he's saying is this: if I own this establishment, then its purpose is to benefit me.

From Bob :

"This is [Loyalty] the only criterion. If I own X, and I hire someone to manage X, I want managing X in my interests to be the sole endeavor."

Note only criterion. I'd want someone who wouldn't loyally mismanage my affairs. I expect Bob would as well, but he didn't say that.

There are, of course, reasons to be concerned with that view, but your particular response is off-base.
It's a badly worded comment : do you really think I'll let the opportunity go? This is BobTheCoward, remember. He'd be all over it like a cheap suit.

I understood the hype to be that this was going to be a MAJOR MAJOR speech.

I note again that he pronounced "provocation" as "provoke-ation", at least the first time. The second time he got it right.

I think he said Duarte instead of Duterte, also.

Sweet Jeebus... for a second, I thought it was Clarkson.

Who?

BTW, look at this headline from the Washington Post: "Senate Republicans look to Trump to restore order amid Alabama upheaval"

If you need TRUMP??? to restore order, you've got bigger problems than Alabama.

What do they want him to do ?

Do they want him to say that it's perfectly fine for an alleged child molester to run for Senate ? Do they want him to support Moore 100% in the election to ensure he gets elected ?

Anything else such as postponing the election and re-running the primary or forcing Moore to withdraw will only increase the upheaval.

In any case, President Trump is the symptom of the kind of upheaval that's rife in Alabama.

Did anyone pick up on his other tweets yesterday?

Those 3 basketball players wont thank me because... (??)
NY Times is so dumb at foreign policy
Democrats are fighting tax cuts because they like obstructing.

same old same old, i guess.

Awesome photo in that article. Don't you think he looks tired?

(Let's see who gets that reference.)
The original scene was filmed not far from here a few years ago - to the very limited extent that time and space mean much in Cardiff.

Oh, and .

ETA : I've just remembered an occasion when I turned into The Hayes in Cardiff to find it all decked out for Xmas, and thought "Jeez, it really does come earlier every year - hang on, it's frickin' September!". They were shooting the Xmas Special, of course.

Continuing to erase anything with President Obama's name on it. In 2014, the Obama administration placed restrictions on the import of elephant trophies from Zambia and Zimbabwe to protect endangered species and discourage poaching.

Guess what?

US authorities will remove restrictions on importing African elephant trophies from Zimbabwe and Zambia.
That means Americans will soon be able to hunt the endangered big game, an activity that garnered worldwide attention when a Minnesota dentist took Cecil, perhaps the world's most famous lion, near a wildlife park in Zimbabwe.

I wonder if there's any personal interest?

President Donald Trump's sons Donald Jr. and Eric are themselves big game hunters. Photos posted in 2012 by the website Gothamist show Donald Jr. holding an elephant tail. The website says the photos were from a 2011 hunt in Zimbabwe.
When Donald Jr. addressed the photos at the time, he did not deny their authenticity or where they were taken. "I can assure you it was not wasteful," he posted on Twitter, adding, "The villagers were so happy for the meat which they don't often get to eat."

Well, if the meat was put to use, that's just fine then. Passenger pigeons and dodos were probably delicious too.

Good morning. Perhaps Trump and family can go hunting with Dick Cheney.

There's also the possibility to let tweets be delivered as newsfeed. Even as much of an RSS fan that I am, Trump is at the moment the only one who I follow that way, as I'm often enough on twitter and their algorithms are good enough that I don't miss stuff (as far as I'm aware). Link to Trump feed (easily tweaked to anybody else, obviously):

Trump would be well advised to stay away from this toxic situation. The composition of the Senate is one area where the buck does not and should not stop with the POTUS. Heck, Moore wasn't even his pick for the office in the first place.

Are you subtly suggesting i stop posting huge screenshots? :P
Fair enough. I was trying to help people who often say they can't view tweets.
That source you provided is probably better to use.

No, no. I prefer the screenshots so I can actually see what's been said rather than have to wait later in the day, at which point I forget to check.

Yes, but which PM? Never mind, I think you've got it.
Harriet Jones surely.
I know who she is.

eta: Yes, I know I wasn't close to the first, but I wanted to make it public knowledge that I get Doctor Who references. :)

We had actually just re-watched the episode a couple of days before I posted that.

Back on topic, (and cross posting from the Moore thread), someone on CNN this morning was wondering when Trump will speak up about the Moore situation. As Civet has said, if he has half a brain he won't. Nothing to be gained for him by going there, regardless of which side he takes. At the moment, he looks relatively good for having campaigned against Moore in the primary. Even a statement that he trusts the people of Alabama to decide would be a mistake, because they might decide for the Democrat.

I don't think he has anything to gain from commenting, he was never an associate of Moore, did not support him in the primary and only opens himself up to more discussion of his behavior. But it is people talking about someone other than Donald Trump. So I do expect a tweet.

Good point. I did say "if he has half a brain..."

Wasn't there a bunch of stuff about how Trump was upset he 'had' to endorse Strange, and that he really wished he could back Moore before the primary? Or was Moore the one where Trump supporters said they were supporting Moore to support Trump, even though Trump didn't endorse him?

I find my source a tad funnier.
After all, Spicer claimed the tweets are official statements, let us treat the as such.

The latter. Trump supported Strange a hundred and ten percent, right up until he lost and Trump had never heard of the guy.
