Fortune magazine writes

Slowly, but surely, the myth that Donald Trump is a great businessman crumbling as it has been revealed that the hotels that Trump managed lost $1.7 billion over 15 years.

From its IPO in 1995 through two separate bankruptcies in 2004 and 2009, Trump Hotels—and its successor, Trump Entertainment—never made money. Year after year its operating profits were decimated by gigantic interest costs. Over the almost 15 years that Trump served as chairman, the casino company posted net losses, excluding extraordinary items, totaling nearly $1.7 billion.

Let's hope that Trump isn't allowed to run the US.

Thread was getting long again, split from here.

Why would we want this loser to run the US?

Trump Airlines

In 1988, Trump bought Eastern Air Shuttle, an airline service that ran hourly flights between Boston, NYC and DC for 27 years prior, for $365 million. He turned the airline, once a no frills operation, into a luxury experience, adding maple-wood veneer to the floor and gold-colored bathroom fixtures. The company never turned a profit and the high debt forced him to default on his loans. Ownership of the company was turned over to creditors.

Apparently, if we don't elect him, it will be "the last election"- at least according to Michele Bachmann:

Well, I don't want to be melodramatic, but I do want to be truthful. I believe without a shadow of a doubt this is the last election. This is it. This is the last election. And the reason why I say that, David, is because it's a math problem. It's a math problem of demographics and a changing United States. If you look at the numbers of people who vote and who live in the country and who Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton want to bring into the country, this is the last election when we even have a chance to vote for somebody who will stand up for godly moral principles. This is it.

I'm not sure if she thinks that the people "who Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton want to bring into the country" (immigrants, I guess) are by definition ungodly people, or if she's saying that conservatives (or Republicans) are by definition the only godly people. In either case, she's a demonstration of the principle that the best argument for separation of church and state is made by the people most opposed to it.

More on Trump's NDA for volunteers :

If, I as a business person, with employees, want to volunteer to make phone calls for Trump, I am required to prevent any of my employees from working for, assisting or volunteering - for any other presidential candidate.

"No Competitive Services. Until the Non-Compete Cutoff Date [Note: this is defined elsewhere in the Agreement as “the date the current U.S presidential election cycle is over or, if earlier, the date Mr. Trump announces that he will not run** or will no longer run for the Presidency of the United States of America in the current U.S. presidential election cycle“] you promise and agree not to assist or counsel, directly or indirectly, for compensation or as a volunteer, any person that is a candidate or exploring candidacy for President of the United States other than Mr. Trump and to prevent your employees from doing so."

It's really hard for me to take a nut job like Bachmann seriously. But it's extra hard when she refers to Trump standing up for "Godly and Moral principles" since Trump doesn't have any of those.

I know. That's a real kicker.

Trump: Godly and Moral. HA!

His problem, it seems to me, is he has never had people on equal footing just telling him he is an ********. In his head he seems to think POTUS just means I say this. Do it.

Ie dumbarse

I emphatically agree.

I think the accusations of drug use are unfounded because this facet of his life is enough to explain at least 90% of his erratic behavior.

I'll tell you exactly why. With taxes every person walks right up to the edge. In business In many places he may have crossed that line or it might appear that he has. The IRS code is left up to interpretation in many areas, it takes a professional to help people through it so that you can save as much as possible without crossing that line.

His portfolio is quite large and the dems would take every opportunity to try and destroy him over every little instance of balancing that line. He should never release them!!

He should immediately release them!!

If he has done nothing illegal (and previous audits have shown no big violations) then isn't that a complete defense against people trying to destroy him through his tax returns? How can he be destroyed by things that Trump's accountants and the IRS find both correct and proper?

Furthermore the very foundation of Trump's campaign is his claim that he is a billionaire because he understands finances better than any DC politician. He claims to be a financial genius. What is wrong with asking to see evidence of that claim? What's wrong with asking him to do what every candidate for the past several decades has done?

When MCain ran for office, he knew his opponents would try to attack him through his tax returns, but he was brave enough to release them anyway. Surely Donald Trump is as brave as McCain. Isn't he?

I see Logger and Trump supporters as no different than Trump University Students. They're suckers for a con. And Trump supporters are worse. There is overwhelming evidence that Trump is a liar and a cheat but they refuse to believe it or dismiss it with a wave of their hand.

Trump says he is this incredible businesses man even though there is significant evidence that he's not. Trump puffs himself up but has never proven to anyone how much he's actually worth.

A few years back he sued Tim O'Brien for writing that Trump was worth between $150 to $250 million dollars, Trump lost..TWICE.

Here's an example of just how much Trump lies about how much he's worth.

On a single day in August 2004, he told me his net worth was $4 billion to $5 billion, then revised that later the same day to $1.7 billion. Forbes said at the time he was worth $2.6 billion. A year later Donald told me he was worth $5 billion to $6 billion, but a brochure left on my nightstand at his Palm Beach resort said he was worth $9.5 billion. When I interviewed Donald’s chief financial officer in a Trump Organization conference room in 2005 to discuss the range of numbers, the figure shared with me was $5 billion, not $6 billion. “I’m going to go to my office and find that other billion,” the CFO advised.

It's all a cloud and for some reason, that's OK with Trump supporters because he has his suckers under an hypnotic trance.

I don't have a problem with Trump using the tax laws in his favor; to quote the great Learned Hand, "Anyone may arrange his affairs so that his taxes shall be as low as possible; he is not bound to choose that pattern which best pays the treasury. There is not even a patriotic duty to increase one's taxes. Over and over again the Courts have said that there is nothing sinister in so arranging affairs as to keep taxes as low as possible. Everyone does it, rich and poor alike and all do right, for nobody owes any public duty to pay more than the law demands."

The problem I have is with the hypocrisy of Trump and his supporters who demand "transparency" of Clinton and yet bridle at the idea of Trump disclosing the same information.*

* - I have many, many other problems with Trump, but this one is relevant to the immediate discussion.

Holy crappe! That's got to be utterly illegal.

Spot on. The more we learn, the more evident that Trump is abysmal at business and abysmal at management. And it's as clear as the day is long (in Wasilla in the dead of summer) that he's an abject con artist. The veneer of can-do business skill is so thin as to be diaphinous.

I'm not sure that it is. But the optics are horrible.

Optics don't seem to bother them. They're so delighted with any press coverage at all that they've got all the discussions of the Dr. Ben/Agent Orange trip to the inner city being spread all through the news services, including that it's now (although this may change eight more times) relegated to a staged Q&A, 100% scripted answers, and then a ten-minute victory lap by Donald, addressing the congregation. You can bet the congregation is going to be screened, vetted, sifted, examined.

In fact, I wouldn't put it past Breitbart to stage a phony protester so Trump can look Reagan-like.... like the staged "I Paid For This Microphone".

It's probably not illegal, but it's probably not enforceable, either. Its "authority" probably relies entirely on the ignorance of the would-be volunteer.
It likely is unenforceable, but legal action has to be taken / threatened, thus requiring someone to retain a lawyer and pay thousands of dollars, possibly many thousands of dollars to get it thrown out, as unenforceable.

That's pretty much Donny's gig. He loves that ****. Even when he knows he's going to lose, he still sues.

Well we can now see what she considers to be " godly moral principles":

  • Lying
  • Cheating
  • Infidelity

Another funny thing I noticed. The agreement names each and every one of Trump's children by their full names as being part of a "Trump Person" - but refers to his wife as "Mr. Trump’s spouse."

Guess he was leaving some leeway there for potential number four.

Trump IV ends and Trump V begins.

Any guesses as to what number we will be on by Election Day.

It's always a comparison to Hillary. Most realize he is a saint compared to her.

Lol

Somehow though his businesses have earned him billions. No comment from corrupt liberals on how Hillary made her millions.

That language is always a comparison to Clinton?
Why don't people mention that when describing Trump's godly principles?

Lastly:
Clinton!?!?
Bachmann is using Clinton as the standard to decide who is and isn't possessed of godly principles?! Shirley you just.

Feel free to pull a Trump and come up with a new reason while simultaneously asserting that the previous position was never held.

It's always a comparison to Hillary. Most realize he is a saint compared to her.

Really? The man can't go 5 minutes without telling a lie. He treats people like crap including his wives. He for sure cheated on both of his former wives. He has stolen millions, mostly from people with far less than him. I doubt he has read a full page of the Bible let alone maybe one of the books in the Bible. And Trump's the Saint?

It would be funny comment if it wasn't vomit inducing.

Lol

I'm highly dubious.
Indeed. This is by far the most likely reason Trump doesn't want to release his financials. His only real positive selling point is supposed to be his ability to make yuge amounts of money. If it turns out his 21st century income derives almost entirely from his TV show (why else would he spend so many years making it?), then that selling point turns into a[nother] mark against him.

Lol

Somehow though his businesses have earned him LOST billions.

Well, DADDY didn't give her her money like Trump.

With Trump's run rate since he effectively lost most of what his DADDY left him, his children might not get squat when the Orange LOSER kicks the bucket.

Trump is the typical LOSER LUCKY SPERM. Given every break and still failed.

Somehow?

We know how. He's as crooked as a 3 dollar bill. He fleeces people. He hires vendors and contractors and when the time comes to pay, he doesn't.

He's a crook.

There is now a taco truck parked across from trump's campaign headquarters in Denver.

“We want to send a message today in response to the comments the Trump campaign issued,” said District 3 Denver City Councilman Paul Lopez.

Lopez asked the Mestizos food truck to show up at the corner of 18th and Clarkson, right in front of the Trump Headquarters, in response to comments the founder of the group Latinos for Trump made the night before on CNN.

This really needs to spread nationwide. Of course, given the way Trump's campaign is being run, that would only require a couple dozen trucks.

How about # NOT TRUMP TACOS.

That's actually funny. I wonder if Melania (sp?) has read it.

In a New Yorker "Talk of the Town" piece gossip columnist Liz Smith commented on thirty years of knowing the Donald Trumps. She recalled:
One day, Ivana invited Smith to visit her at the Plaza Hotel, which Donald then owned and Ivana managed. “She threw herself into my arms crying. She said, ‘Donald has a girlfriend,’...I asked her if she wanted me to write something, and she said no. She just wanted a sympathetic shoulder”...Smith wrote Trump a letter advising him to make an official comment about his rumored marital problems in her column.

Eventually, he called Smith from a plane. “And he said, ‘I like Ivana; I might get back with her.’ I couldn’t believe it: ‘I like Ivana,’ ” Smith said. “Everyone had misjudged Donald. People thought he would be alarmed if it was revealed that he was having an affair. But it turned out he didn’t give a **** if people knew.” Link

She also made a remark that verified something I wrote here months and months ago.
"When he saw me, he’d give me a big hug and tell me I was the greatest. I never took him seriously. I didn’t even think he would last in New York, because people hated him once they got to know him."

They still do.

Who needs daddy when you can ride your husbands coat tales.

Tell us how much daddy gave him?
Trump is the typical LOSER LUCKY SPERM. Given every break and still failed.

You're idea of failure is a bit strange. If only Trump could be as successful as the people telling us he isn't. Hilarious!
