The thread was beginning to run slowly, so I have split to this part 7. As usual, the split point was arbitrary and members may freely quote from previous iterations of the thread.

The people Trump is selling this bovine feces to are the same people who thinks Obama started the war in Afghanistan.

I was thinking it was more like the people who think that Obama's parents put the birth announcement in newspaper to make it look like he was born in the US.

I'd say there's considerable overlap between the two types.

The flow of time seems to be an issue with Trump voters.

Donald Trump's mail-servers are running Windows 2003

Security researcher Kevin Beaumont had a look at the mail servers operated by the Trump organization and found a veritable dumpster fire: systems running Windows 2003 (!), unpatched, badly configured.

Beaumont didn't attempt to penetrate these systems, but they sound ripe for the picking.

Trump and Clinton have traded barbs about their relative information security nous, with Trump describing information security's alpha and omega as his "10 year old son" and "400 pound guys."

You'd think a guy who is making so much hay from email stolen from a hacked email server would put at least some token effort into his own servers.

So is Trump going to be able to cash in a few weeks?

After all, even that incredibly stupid, idiotic, liar Sara Palin was able to make millions by sort of writing a book and giving talks on Fox News, but it is looking like Trump will actually lose millions with his horrible foray into politics.

I expect that the Trump Foundation will have to bail out 'the Donald' again.

It seems to have paid for his son's scout subscription of $7. I think that might be more hurtful than a lot of other bigger things.

It shows how venal he is in a way that bigger sums don't - after all, at least one can see the purpose in stealing millions of dollars.

With government agencies looking into the misdeeds of the foundation, I think it's more likely he ends his days as an alt reich version of Emperor Norton.

Yeah, that's pretty embarrassing. What kind of billionaire can't find $7 in his pocket? That happened in 1989. Trump was having a lot of financial problems at that time.

Of course, Trump claims he's a billionaire. For someone with that much wealth, you would think that the money he'd earn from another book (even a successful book) would be chump change.

Anecdotal research is not my favorite, but at least the NYT put some effort into the first article I've seen on the topic of the impact this is having on their brands.

Ooh prepare for a Twitter storm:

US election 2016: 'Stop whining,' Obama tells Donald Trump

But in a White House Rose Garden news conference alongside visiting Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi on Tuesday, Mr Obama said: "I'd advise Mr Trump to stop whining and try to make his case to get votes."
"By the way," he added, "doesn't really show the kind of leadership and toughness that you want out of a president, if you start whining before the game's even over.

I'm sure Trump will respond in a measured and thoughtful manner to these comments...;)

Irony is a vast majority of GOP leaders would agree with Obama on this......

Indeed they do, provided that there is no around that could actually hear them say so.

If the Republicans want to win future elections, then they need to develop at least some credibility, and about the best way to start would be for the GOP leadership to dump Trump now and focus on getting things set up for the 2020 race.

One significant problem with being a brand is that the people who might buy that brand usually have lots of options the minute they think it has no value to them. There are plenty of golf courses, hotels, and neckties in the world that have nothing to do with Donald Trump.

It's going to be fun watching the Trump brand die.

I wonder how Trump's supporters would take that.

People with official positions in the GOP are not going to say that in public;but a lot of prominent GOP leaders and political consultants who don't have official positions are pretty open in their opinion that Trump is running one of the most incompetent political campaigns in modern history.

In every way, it is but most particularly in how Trump continues to alienate women in droves. It's like he doesn't even care about the women's vote. Every other word out of his mouth is misogynistic and sexist

The biggest gender gaps between men and women was 20 points. Right now it's 26 to 28. Trump is leading among men by about 7 points and is losing women by between 20 and 22. Hillary is capitalizing on the historic nature of being possibly the first woman President but not nearly as much as Trump is just offending the hell out of the fairer sex. I'm guessing that the GOP conducts polling but clearly Trump is ignoring them.

I don't want to say Trump is trying to lose this election, because I don't really buy that. But he sure doesn't seem to be trying to win..

The weirdest thing about this election is that instead of candidates fighting for attention there is no battle at all. Trump can't stand not to be in the headlines and Hillary is doing everything she can never to be in them.

I am almost buying into the theory that he knows, deep down, he is going to lose, and is trying to build up the audience for his Trump News Channel more then win.

It could just be narcissism (clinical or otherwise) and an utter lack of awareness how it makes him seem coupled with a certainty that he knows better than any experts.

I think he also believes his own rhetoric about women wanting him. He probably thinks his behavior makes him look virile and appealing.

This Slate writer thinks Trump should have a trigger warning:
All over America, the squalid denouement of the Trump campaign is forcing women to think anew about abuse they’ve endured. According to the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network, the weekend after the release of the Trump tape saw a 33 percent increase in people turning to its National Sexual Assault Hotline for support. Traffic to the group’s website was up 45 percent.

I initially read that as "vile".

I'd say that was part of the narcissism. But yes, I'd agree.

I really don't believe he has the capability to do that level of planning. His MO continues to viciously attack anyone who makes the smallest criticism and deny any reality other than that he is a winner or "killer" in his father's words.

If you haven't seen it, I would encourage everyone to watch this Frontline documentary on Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

And another October Surprise is coming......

I am not a big fan of Moore...as a satirists he is not half as clever or funny as he thinks he is....but I might actullly give this one a shot.
I don't think it will have any impact on the election, though;Trump is pretty much preaching to the choir with his films nowdays.

Bah. I don't think Moore will have anything that we don't already know.

I'm waiting for the big hammer. What about, "Trump paid for his daughter's abortion using the Trump foundation funds"?

I gotta say, if that were to come out, it might be the nail needed to turn this into a 50 blue state election. Unfortunately, I think if that had something like that, they'd have already played that card.

If only Trump's mother had an abortion.

I was reading the response to the White House spokeman's crack about the guy who snorted his way through the first two debates wants a drug test before the third on Facebook.

I realize quoting FB posts is pretty low hanging fruit, but the best was some guy who is like, "Josh can't even pretend to be balanced in this campaign." I'm like, what? Why should the White House be balanced? It's not secret that Obama is campaigning for Clinton.

You can debate whether it was a good thing to say, but even if not, it's NOT because it was biased against Trump and the White House is supposed to have some neutral position. That's really stupid.

I am not even sure that this would affect T's constituency. I'm not sure "T used Trump Foundation Funds to pay for his daughter's abortion of his child" would have much effect, at this point...

My own guess: Trump will go very heavy on the Anti Muslim rhetoric in the last weeks of the campaign. If he is trying to cause max disruption, stirring up hatred will be a good way to do it.

The fund-raiser involves sales expansion sets themed for Trump or Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, with people voting with which pack they order. As of Monday, the Clinton-themed packs had raised $210,928 while the Trump-themed ones had raised $200,716.

At the end of the promotion, "depending on which pack gets more support, we will donate all the money in support of Hillary Clinton," according to the website.

Brilliant!

I bet he's paid for a few abortions. Possibly out of the foundation.

Or has a love child or two.
